Who does Wake Forest miss from the ACC schedule?

Boston College, Cal, Clemson, Louisville, Miami, Pitt, Stanford, Syracuse

How much more of a break do you want to get than not having to play Miami and Clemson? Throw in Louisville, and improved Syracuse, and a Pitt team that should be dangerous, and the Demon Deacons will take it.

Wake Forest football schedule, the good and the bad

The Good: Along with missing a few of the biggest and baddest ACC teams, Wake Forest gets a week off to rest up before dealing with SMU at home. The team goes all of September without having to leave Winston-Salem, and it doesn’t leave the area over the last three weeks.

The Bad: The road games are quirky-hard over the second half of the season.

New head coach Jake Dickert certainly knows Oregon State after his days at Washington State, but that’s a long trip coming off a road date at Virginia Tech. If Florida State is back up and working, it’s uh-oh time with that coming off the SMU game.

Wake Forest Football Schedule: Best and worst case scenarios

Best Case Scenario: The Demon Deacons at least split the home games against NC State and Georgia Tech, at least split the road dates against Virginia Tech and Oregon State, and gets bowl eligible without a problem helped by the late date against Delaware.

Worst Case Scenario: The Demon Deacons fall to both NC State and Georgia Tech in September, and then come the road games. There will be a road win or two somewhere - they should beat Oregon State and hold their own against Virginia - but there’s a problem against North Carolina and SMU, and getting to six wins comes down to the date at Duke.

Wake Forest Season Prediction: (Feb 11) Dickert is a strong head man, but the real plus here is the non-conference schedule that should be a breeze. That will build a base of three wins, but where will the other three come from? They’ll get two, but they won’t get to three for that bowl invite.

The Season Prediction will be updated several times this offseason
