Two of Duquesne’s basketball players recently traveled across the pond to compete in international basketball action.

Jakub Necas (representing Czechia) played in the Fiba U20 EuroBasket championships in Poland. There, he finished as the top scorer in the tournament, per Duquesne, finishing with an average of 18.6 points per game. Necas led Czechia to sixth place in the tournament, and capped off his stellar session with a final game that included 27 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

“I would say, it was awesome in every way possible,” Necas told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “It was the last time I can represent my country in a national team jersey in young categories. I had an opportunity to play with my guys from my former team and also the guys I grew up with. It was the last time I could play with them on the same team, so it was an awesome experience…”

In addition, Matus Hronsky (representing Slovakia) traveled overseas to compete in two international friendlies for his home country. Hronsky played against Portugal twice, scoring 18 points in his first game and then 13 in his second.

“… I enjoyed it, it was awesome,” Hronsky said. “I saw some guys that I didn’t see for a long time that play professional. I enjoyed it as much as I could.”

On Wednesday, both Hronsky and Necas caught up with Pittsburgh Sports Now’s Duquesne basketball reporter Zac Weiss at Duquesne. Check out the full interviews with both players by clicking here or by clicking the link below.
