Stephen Curry has elevated the Golden State Warriors beyond anyone’s wildest expectations since getting drafted.

In 2009, when the Golden State Warriors drafted Stephen Curry, hardly anyone could have predicted that it would change the fate of the franchise.

Despite six players being picked before Curry, the Baby-Faced Assassin has undo ubtedly become the most accomplished superstar from his class.

Today, Curry is one of the faces of the league, but according to his wife, Ayesha Curry, Steph had no plans to be an NBA superstar.

Ayesha Curry makes ‘double-edged sword’ statement on Steph Curry’s NBA career

Being one of the most popular athletes in the world comes with a plethora of perks, such as financial security for life.

However, during an interview with Alex Cooper of ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, Ayesha re vealed she ‘hated’ her husband becoming an NBA superstar.

“It’s a double-edged sword because parts of it have afforded me doors to be opened. I obviously have to walk through them and put in the work to stay in them.

But that, I think, would be the elephant in the room. I’m grateful for that side of things, but on the flip side, I — in the beginning, I hated it so much,” Ayesha said.

She added: “I did not sign up for it. I also always thought that, I didn’t know that he was going to end up playing basketball.”

Curry is a generational superstar and regarded as the best three-point shooter of all time, the same skill that Jerry West once criticized. It would have been a shame if Steph had never become an NBA star.

Ayesha Curry says Steph Curry wanted to be a high school basketball coach

Years before, Davidson’s Bob McKillop identified Curry’s true potential; a young Steph dreamed of being a high school head coach rather than the sensational basketball star he is today.

“He said he wanted to be a high school basketball coach. I thought I was going to be the girl out there getting it. So, I didn’t know. And it was weird,” Ayesha continued.

But what made this transition ‘weird’? Ayesha stated: “Sports fans are so different than maybe entertainment world fans. And oftentimes, it’s very ruthless so I wasn’t expecting that either.”

Indeed, sports fans can be ruthless when their favorite stars fail to live up to expectations.

Despite Steph being a beloved superstar, Ayesha’s statement signifies that, at times, the Warriors star has received the short end of the stick.
