The USWNT will be playing against Portugal tonight in a friendly match for the October international break. The USWNT head coach Emma Hayes called up a lot of young bright players in the roster including Trinity Rodman.
Rodman is seen as one of the faces of the USWNT and received her first call up to the national team since April. Rodman scored in her last appearance with the USWNT in their 2-0 win over Brazil.
On the day of the USWNT roster announcement, Rodman suffered an MCL sprain during a match between the Washington Spirit and Monterrey's women's team in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup.
Her injury is reportedly not serious but the timing has caused her to be officially ruled out for the match against Portugal tonight. The official USWNT social media page confirmed that Rodman did not attend the national team camp due to her injury.
Washington Spirit head coach Adrian Gonzalez confirmed that Rodman's injury is not serious and started rehab a few days after the injury occurred.
Gonzalez said, "It's not as bad as it could be. She's started now the rehab. She has an MCL sprain. It's not too much."
The USWNT head coach Emma Hayes spoke about Trinity Rodman's injury and says to be hopeful that the Washington Spirit star will be back in the USWNT camp in November.
Hayes also confirms that Rodman's injury is not serious and believes that the player may be ready ahead of the NWSL playoffs, which is early November.
Hayes said, "While she understands these setbacks happen, she’s equally disappointed because she desperately wanted to be here. Fortunately, it’s not too far, and I hope that she’s back in playoff contention and she’ll be back for the next camp.”
