Ruben Amorim has some special talent at his disposal this season, and it’s a clear step up from what Manchester United have had in recent years.

For a while now, Bruno Fernandes has carried the load at Old Trafford, often looking like he w as doing it all on his own.

He picked up his fourth Player of the Year award last season — that’s four in five years — which says it all about how important he’s been to United during that period.

But this year feels different. The club has invested close to £200 million in a new-look attack, giving Fernandes some real support for the first time since he arrived.

The new front three – Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko – looked promising even though we’ve only seen them together briefly so far.

Cunha and Mbeumo impressed on their debuts agains t Arsenal despite the loss. There were enough positive signs to suggest both players will have a big impact as the season goes on.

Cunha adds physicality through the middle whilst also having an eye for a pass with one of Europe’s best pass completion rates last term.

Kobbie Mainoo shines again for Manchester United but they lose to Arsenal 1-0

Mainoo was one of few positives from last weekend despite coming off injured after an hour. No matter who lines up alongside him in midfield, Mainoo always looks assured and covers every blade of grass around Old Trafford.

This game was no different against an exceptional Arsenal midfield which is one of Europe’s best. Once again though it will be another season where Champions League qualification will be seen as success rather than expected by many within Manchester United circles.

Mainoo shares early thoughts on Bryan Mbeumo’s start at Manchester United

Both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have settled in well off the pitch at United, quickly becoming popular figures in the dressing room.

Matthijs de Ligt has spoken positively about Cunha, while Casemiro has praised his all-round qualities. Harry Maguire has also highlighted Cunha’s impact on the pitch. Now, attention is turning to Mbeumo, who is earning praise from his new teammates.

Speaking to the club’s website, Mainoo said:

“Seeing what he’s done over the last few seasons, the amount of goals he scores and the quality he has, to bring him here I was always excited to see that”, Mainoo explained.

“Really quick, really strong and with a great touch as well. It’s been amazing playing with him after the season he had – lots of goals, lots of assists so he’ll bring something special and unique to the team.”

Mainoo isn’t alone in his opinion. Roy Keane has predicted big things for Mbeumo at United, a high compliment for the Cameroonian forward.

How Mbeumo is already making a good impression inside Manchester United’s dressing room

Mainoo wasn’t the only one to share positive feedback about Mbeumo, as several players also had good things to say about their new teammate.

Ayden Heaven: “He’s a great player obviously, left-footed and he’s got a couple of tricks up his sleeve if I’m being honest. He’s just like Cunha, I’m really excited to see what he can bring to us and the team. He scored a lot of goals and that can help in our team, scoring more, so bringing that as well. With Bryan, that puts us in the best place.”

Diego Leon: “Bryan I’m only just seeing recently, but what I’ve seen has surprised me: the technical ability with the ball, and he’s a phenomenal player.”

Casemiro: “Well, Bryan! He gave us a lot of trouble in his previous team, Brentford. I hope he’ll continue to do the same work to other teams! We know him from how it is to play against him, and I think he’s adapted [here] now. You can tell that he’s a very good player. But as I said, always, always when we played against him he gave us so much trouble. He gave us so many problems. We had to fight very hard against him so his quality now is no surprise for us.”

Tyler Fredricson: “He’s a really strong player, really fast and good in the box. Once you get to know him, he’s a bit louder than everyone makes out. Again, he’s a top guy and very funny as well. He’s maybe a bit quieter than Matheus but he’s just a really nice down-to-earth guy who gets along with everyone. He can deliver great balls into the box as we know from what he’s done in the past. He’s a great player and can provide us with a lot this season.”
