We did cash Cam Akers' first line but got a bit greedy laddering up his totals, and we won't soon forget that egregious overthrow Aaron Rodgers had on Allen Lazard last night. All in all, "Monday Night Football" was about what we expected: nothing special. Tuesday in sports seems like a good time to look to the hardwood and ice for a few plays.
Zach LaVine 3+ threes (-115 DK)
Zach LaVine and the Bulls are facing a Miami team that allows the sixth-most threes per game this season. Of the Chicago shooters, the volume we like best comes from LaVine, who is averaging 6.6 attempts per game from long-range. He's hit three threes in back-to-back games and against the Heat last year, he made 4+ treys in three of four games. Tonight we need just three to fall.
Julius Randle 3+ threes (+104 FD)
A similar situation presents itself for Julius Randle tonight. The Knicks are hosting the Warriors, a team allowing the eighth-most threes per game. Over the last 10 games, Randle has really picked up his perimeter shooting, averaging 9.2 three-point attempts per game. That shot selection has helped him net 3+ threes in six of his last 10 games. He finished with a trio of trey-balls against the Warriors in November and had five against them last December. At plus-money and given the volume we're seeing from Randle, his over 2.5 threes feels like the right bet today.
Jordan Kyrou 1+ point and Kevin Fiala over 2.5 shots (+184 FD)
We put stock into tendencies and trends for NHL players skating on either home ice or as the visitor. This combination tonight brings together two elite hit-rates in their respective locations.
First, Jordan Kyrou of the Blues, who is absolutely rolling and is fresh off a hat trick last night. On the road, Kyrou has registered a point (which is a goal or an assist) in 10 straight games. That's great and all, but it's the volume of points that really catches our eye: 20 points in his past 10. Tonight, St. Louis heads to Seattle to play the Kraken, a team allowing 3.2 goals per game this year. Kyrou has a point in all four career games against the Kraken, with a goal in three straight. There's also a power-play edge on paper for Kyrou to log his point there, which he has done in two straight.
We'll pair him with the Kings' Kevin Fiala, who sure loves skating in Los Angeles. Fiala has covered his shots prop in 10 straight games at home. Tonight he'll be treated to the Anaheim Ducks, a team allowing nearly 40 shots per game on the road, the most in the NHL. He's gone for 3+ shots on goal in six straight against the Ducks and should be in a good spot to deliver once again.
Jalen Hurts expected to miss a few weeks, MVP odds completely flip — Not again? Surely that's what Eagles fans were thinking Monday afternoon when rumors trickled out that MVP favorite Jalen Hurts suffered an injury to his shoulder. It appears the worst has been avoided, as the injury has been designated a shoulder sprain, but Hurts is now doubtful for the massive game against the Cowboys and may get shut down until the playoffs. Philly needs to win just one of their final three games to secure home-field advantage, but because Hurts may finish out the year, his odds for MVP flipped from -150 to +550. Patrick Mahomes is now the odds-on favorite at -350.
USC adds star WR via transfer portal — For the second year in a row, the USC Trojans have added a star receiver via the transfer portal. Last year it was Jordan Addison, and it was just announced that Dorian Singer has transferred from Arizona to join USC next season. This is quite the addition for 2022 Heisman winner Caleb Williams, who will be entering his junior year next season. Keep an eye on USC's title odds after this season concludes, and Williams could be in the rare position to run back another Heisman season.
NFL division futures: Don't sleep on Jacksonville — The injury list really piled up out of Tennessee after Sunday's loss to the Chargers, and suddenly, the Jaguars are very much alive in the AFC South race. ESPN now gives Jacksonville a 42% chance of making the playoffs, and with the Titans suffering injuries throughout the lineup, including to QB Ryan Tannehill, it's no sure thing that Tennessee clinches a playoff spot. The Week 18 game between the Titans and the Jaguars in Jacksonville could be for the division. If you believe in what Trevor Lawrence is doing, now is the time to consider a bet on the Jaguars winning the AFC South at +125.
