Despite being one of the earliest programs to contact Nick Reddish, the Wisconsin Badgers were unable to secure a commitment from the safety.

Reddish, a three-star 2026 safety, recently announced his commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a move that many analysts saw coming. The Wisconsin football staff extended an offer to Reddish early on during the 2026 cycle and kept the recruit close until official visits began to pop off. Wisconsin landed a commitment from Zachary Taylor, a fellow three-star safety, and then appeared to fall out of position to land Reddish.

The talented safety had developed a closer relationship with Notre Dame early, much like his experience with the Wisconsin Badgers. However, the Fighting Irish grew close to Reddish throughout the process and earned multiple crystal ball predictions to land the recruit over the past few weeks. Reddish now officially joins the fourth-ranked 2026 recruiting class as Notre Dame has continued to piece together a seriously hot recruiting run.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, losing out on Reddish stings momentarily but in the end the staff feels as though the right man for the job has already announced his commitment to the program. Wisconsin had felt good about the chances of landing Reddish after a late push but missing out on the commitment is not the end of the world for the staff.

What is Next for the Wisconsin Badgers Within the 2026 Recruiting Cycle Following Nick Reddish Announcement?

With the 2026 cycle wrapping up, the attention of the staff will likely move to securing depth at positions such as defensive line, where three commitments had previously been secured. Wisconsin had commitments from Djidjou Bah, Arthur Scott, and Carmelow Reed along the defensive line but lost Reed to Ole Miss and now are in danger of losing Bah to opposing programs.

Adding another defensive lineman is something the staff feels comfortable with given the fact that Reed had previously been a member of the class. The Wisconsin Badgers staff found a potential replacement in Cincinnati commitment Jeremiah Gray, but Gray has not budged from his commitment. Wisconsin had also been tied to Illinois commitment King Liggins, who had considered the Badgers, but the staff likely will not be able to flip Liggins either.

Moving forward, the Wisconsin Badgers staff will likely conduct one more short tour of the 2026 class in search of another potential commitment with much of the board locked into a pledge already. Liggins and Gray are both names to watch moving forward but if the Badgers were to add to the 2026 recruiting class, the addition will likely be a new face who does not have a previous connection with the staff. Additionally, another commitment for the Badgers will take some time as nothing serious is in the works with attention shifting towards the 2027 class.
