The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has begun to shift the recruiting focus towards the 2027 cycle by extending multiple offers.

Wisconsin previously traveled high and low within the 2026 recruiting cycle to find players that fit both scheme and cultural needs. Previously, the Wisconsin staff saw multiple players hit the transfer portal after just weeks on campus, which would later become part of the reason why the staff focused so heavily upon finding the right players on and off of the field.

Within the 2027 recruiting class, the Wisconsin staff has begun to extend offers to recruits from across the nation. One such recruit previously held an offer from the Badgers, but was re-offered a scholarship by a new staff member.

Iveon Lewis, a four-star 2027 class wide receiver from Virginia, announced that a new scholarship was given to him by the Wisconsin staff. Wide receivers coach Jordan Reid was hired in January and has been taking his time looking over film from recruits who held Wisconsin offers from the previous position coach and new Badgers quarterbacks coach Kenny Guiton. Lewis received a scholarship from Guiton in May of 2024, and now receives a new scholarship from Reid just over a year after the initial offer had been extended.

Lewis is a dynamic receiver who stands tall at 6-foot-2-inches, and roughly 185-pounds, with a burst of speed on the field. The receiver is the third-ranked talent in the state of Virginia within the 2027 class sitting behind five-star edge rusher Chris Whitehead and four-star linebacker Noah Glover. Despite being ranked third, Lewis has more offers than Glover and a very similar offer sheet to Whitehead.

On the field, Lewis is a crisp route runner with exceptional footwork and great hands as the receiver is arguably as complete as one can be. Lewis has a great burst of speed and while the top speed of the receiver is not the best in comparison to other burners, the route running ability of Lewis makes up for it. When Lewis can find a way to hurt a defense, the receiver will continue to do so until the defense adapts to the issue.

The Wisconsin Badgers staff aim to display a new offense this upcoming season and moving forward that will see an increased use of receivers. Lewis is the type of receiver that can slide into the Wisconsin Badgers offense with ease due to his ability to run clean routes, make open catches and catches in traffic, as well as his open field ability.
