In a no-doubt-about-it Super Bowl victory for the Philadelphia Eagles, a former Wisconsin Badgers linebacker crushed any remaining hope for Kansas City Chiefs fans.

Former Wisconsin football captain Zach Baun intercepted Patrick Mahomes late in the second quarter. Two plays after the Brown Deer native's diving grab, the Eagles stretched their lead to 24-0, taking the second-largest halftime lead in Super Bowl history.

A dominant 40-22 win by the Eagles led to several Badgers alumni speaking out about the game.

Wisconsin Badgers Bemoan Super Bowl Blowout

The dominant Philadelphia defense, coordinated by Vic Fangio, ruled the day, sacking Mahomes five times.

Former Wisconsin basketball standout and 2015 consensus National Player of the Year Frank Kaminsky made a poignant joke about Kansas City's performance early in the game.

Baun was not the only Eagle to intercept a pass from three-time Super Bowl MVP Mahomes. First, it was former Iowa Hawkeyes cornerback Cooper DeJean. The dynamic punt returner flashed his athleticism, returning the ball for a pick-six.

Oh, and it is DeJean's 22nd birthday.

Philadelphia raced out to a 17-0 lead with DeJean's pick-six. Former Wisconsin football quarterback Sojourn Shelton offered a glib explanation for Kansas City's early troubles.

When Baun intercepted the two-time NFL MVP later in the second quarter, the 2019 first-team All-Big Ten honoree received a shoutout from his former teammate in the Badgers' outside linebacker room.

By holding one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time to six points before the waning minutes of the fourth quarter, forcing three turnovers, and dominating the line of scrimmage, Wisconsin football standout and three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year made a bold proclamation on who should win Super Bowl LIX MVP.

When the clock hit zeroes, former Wisconsin Badgers sent their congratulations - especially to Saquon Barkley. The former New York Giants running back signed with the Eagles as a free agent this off-season and subsequently set the NFL record for combined rushing yards in the regular and post-season.
