The Wisconsin Badgers have secured a visit with a top recruit on the 2027 big board after previously extending a scholarship earlier in the year.

Israel Abrams, a four-star quarterback in the 2027 class, is considered to be one of the premier quarterback options in his recruiting class. Abrams is currently ranked as the ninth overall quarterback in the class and the sixth overall recruit in the state of Illinois. The 6-foot-4-inch, 187-pound quarterback has the frame, raw talent, and football IQ to become a high caliber athlete at the collegiate level.

Abrams holds offers from programs such as Kentucky, Minnesota, Iowa State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Notre Dame, Alabama, and Michigan have all been in contact with Abrams but none have extended a scholarship to the recruit yet.

Wisconsin Badgers Secure Game Visit with Top Quarterback Target Israel Abrams

While the Badgers secured a visit with Abrams during the season, the program still has plenty of work ahead of themselves due to the other programs involved. Currently, the Badgers are up against Purdue, Alabama, Louisville, and Kentucky, who all also have visits scheduled with Abrams during the season.

Alabama and Kentucky are two programs that truly need to be watched as the Crimson Tide have made Abrams a priority recruit. An interesting note is also that the Crimson Tide has yet to extend a scholarship to Abrams officially, and such a decision could really move the quarterback. Kentucky is relatively new to the scene but has made strides with Abrams early, already securing a visit and pushing themselves into the picture.

The Wisconsin Badgers offered Abrams a scholarship back in February and have kept close contact with the recruit since doing so. Abrams has been busy since then, visiting Iowa State numerous times for camps while also camping with Tennessee, Notre Dame, Minnesota, and Ohio State this summer. The quarterback also has visited Purdue and Northwestern in the past few months.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, landing Abrams would be a massive get as the recruit is a perfect fit at quarterback within the Jeff Grimes offense. Abrams can play both as a passer or a rusher and has the ability to utilize either his legs or his arm to hurt a defense when needed. The versatility of Abrams is excellent and would offer a certain level of dynamic skill at the position that the Badgers have not seen in quite some time.
