The Wisconsin basketball staff held a recent skills camp and offered multiple players afterwards including a top in-state star at guard.
Jalen Brown, a 2027 four-star recruit, has quickly impressed the Wisconsin basketball staff and earned a scholarship after practicing in Madison. The guard is widely considered to be one of the best recruits in the 2027 class and also a part of the loaded in-state class. Brown is currently ranked as the 82nd recruit nationally in the class and but just the third overall recruit in the state of Wisconsin.
Currently, four-star forwards Donovan Davis and Dooney Johnson ranked ahead of Brown in the first and second spots respectively. Davis was previously one of the only recruits in the 2027 class to hold an early offer from Wisconsin but has since seen his recruitment explode.
Much like the recruitment of fellow in-state 2027 star Deuce McDuffie, the Wisconsin basketball staff is banking on an early offer paying off massively at the end of the recruiting process.
Currently, Brown holds just four scholarship offers with Grambling State, Northern Illinois, West Virginia, and Wisconsin joining the action early. However, programs such as Marquette, Iowa, Iowa State, and Illinois have kept a close eye on the talented recruit.
On the court, the guard is a difficult player to stop as Brown is a crafty scorer who can find success shooting the basketball at every level. When Brown is not shooting the basketball, the guard is also a great play-maker who seemingly always finds the right scoring lanes. Brown is a versatile player who does not rely on any one ability of his to be successful, which makes the recruit difficult to read as a defender.
