The Wisconsin football staff had previously been closely tied to a top target at safety, but now have likely lost the race for a commitment.
Nick Reddish , a three-star 2026 safety from North Carolina, has received a second crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish landing the recruit. Notre Dame had been closely connected to the recruit and received a crystal ball months ago, but has since pulled even closer. After landing multiple top targets such as offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh and four-star running backs Javian Osborne and Jonaz Walton the staff is expected to keep the momentum going with a commitment from Reddish.
The talented recruit has also been considering Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, and Indiana throughout his recruitment. However, since picking up a crystal ball prediction for Notre Dame in April the recruit has backed off more and more from other programs.
The Wisconsin football staff hosted Reddish for an official visit last month during one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year. Wisconsin has since had defensive backs Chase Geter, Zachary Taylor, Jowell Combay, Tony Forney, and Jamyan Theodore on campus for official visits. The staff appears to have added an abundance of talent to the board in an effort to find the right fits with Reddish likely out of the picture entirely.
Reddish had previously been one of the most established recruits for the Wisconsin football program and had developed a relationship with the staff. However, the recruiting world moves fast and the Badgers will need to find another recruit to fill the void in the class.
With Reddish likely a member of Notre Dame, the two names to seriously watch moving forward are Theodore and Combay. Taylor previously announced his commitment to the Badgers, adding blazing speed to the class and giving the defense an athletic boost. Geter, however, has not been quite as close with the staff and could be a player that looks elsewhere given the other talent closely inspecting Madison.
Theodore was just recently on campus for his official visit and left impressed with both the campus and the staff. The defensive back has since visited Tennessee and remains a major target for the Volunteers recruiting staff. The race for a commitment from the recruit appears to be down to two teams, but Kentucky is still a program fighting to make the race three teams.
Combay, on the other hand, appears to be between Missouri and Wisconsin who have both put the best foot forward to land the recruit. Combay is largely considered to be an underrated recruit and has quickly become someone the Wisconsin football staff is impressed with. The Badgers have had Combay on campus a handful of times already this year despite the recruit being a native of Georgia, which should be a good sign for the Badgers.
