The Wisconsin football staff has begun to slow down and step away from the 2026 recruiting class after landing multiple top targets in the class.
Previously, the Wisconsin staff managed to secure commitments from three-stars Zachary Taylor and Zion Legree in a short period of time. Afterwards, the staff landed four-stars Jayden Petit and Amari Latimer who are both considered to be major targets within the 2026 class for Wisconsin. Petit, Latimer, Taylor, and Legree are all exceptional talents, but there must be more to the class than just a handful of recruits.
The Badgers have also secured big commitments within the 2026 class such as Arthur Scott, Djidjou Bah, Maddox Cochrane, Tayshon Bardo, and Jack Sievers. The class currently holds a rank of 48th overall, but the Wisconsin football staff is confident that the right vetting has been done and the correct talent has been secured.
Wisconsin is so confident that the right talent has been acquired that the staff has begun to step away from the 2026 cycle and focus on preparing the team for the upcoming season. Wisconsin expects to add a few more names to the class before fully closing up shop, but the bulk of the damage has already been done in terms of priority targets announcing commitments.
With the Wisconsin football staff primarily finished with the 2026 recruiting class, the next commitment for the Badgers will likely not come anytime soon.
Previously, Wisconsin had been involved with recruits such as Jackson Ford, Chase Geter, Jamyan Theodore, and most recently Tony Forney, all of whom announced commitments to other programs. Since doing so, the Badgers are left with two main recruits left in the 2026 class who are nearing commitments.
Four-star defensive back Jowell Combay and three-star safety Nick Reddish are both former top recruits for the Wisconsin football staff as the duo had been priority targets. The commitment of Zachary Taylor shifted many things for the staff and led to changes in which recruits would receive more attention. Wisconsin has worked hard on Combay recently, but Reddish almost certainly seems to be too far too gone at this point in time.
Combay is slowly becoming less of a reality as well due to the commitment of fellow teammate Forney to Missouri. The duo had previously conducted visits, camps, and meetings with coaches together and could stay together at the collegiate level. The Wisconsin football staff has been trending downwards since Forney committed to Missouri.
