The Wisconsin football staff has unfortunately missed out on another 2026 defensive lineman as Ben Duncum committed to Kentucky earlier.

Duncum, who was a top remaining recruit on the board for Wisconsin, announced a commitment to the Wildcats after previously setting a commitment decision date. The Badgers were still in the picture for Duncum up until the commitment announcement and had been considered a dark horse to land the recruit. However, Kentucky proved to be the most successful recruiter of the defensive lineman, ultimately sealing a verbal commitment after an official visit and months of hard recruiting.

The defensive lineman was previously on campus in Madison for an official visit with the Wisconsin football staff. Duncum had a productive visit, but allegedly had been deciding between Oklahoma State and Kentucky ahead of the commitment date that was set.

Without Duncum in the picture anymore and the Wisconsin staff still eyeing another addition along the defensive line before closing the 2026 class, Jeremiah Gray has emerged as a potential flip candidate.

Duncum is a tall, athletic defender who possesses both a long frame and a quick playing style that the Badgers staff truly appreciates. Since losing former commitment Carmelow Reed, the Wisconsin football staff has lacked a big frame along the defensive line in the 2026 class and losing out on Duncum hurts. However, Gray has a freakish 6-foot-7-inch frame much like Reed with a playing style closer to Duncum which could be the perfect match within the Wisconsin defense.

Currently, Gray is a Cincinnati commitment and has been one since April after the Bearcats put in the most work early with the recruit. Gray is relatively new to football and picked the sport up much later than other recruits, which has caused a sudden late boom in his recruitment. Wisconsin hopes an offer, official visit, and plenty of conversations can lead to a potential commitment flip.
