Wisconsin quarterback, Danny O’Neill is looking forward to the opportunity his Badgers have in front of them, with them set to travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide on Saturday.
O’Neil and Wisconsin come into this matchup with high expectations for themselves after starting the 2025 season undefeated following wins over Miami of Ohio and Middle Tennessee.
In those wins, O’Neil led the charge for the Badgers, starting one of two games, completing 35 of his 46 passes for 403 yards, to go along with four touchdowns and two interceptions. O’Neil has also rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts on the season.
The Badgers’ sophomore quarterback met with reporters after practice Tuesday and gave his thoughts on the opportunity to start against Alabama.
“They’re still Alabama,” O’Neill said. “They’ve got a bunch of good athletes. They’re well-coached, and it’s going to be a good opportunity for us to really see where we’re at, going into a hostile environment, playing a really good team and just seeing how we stack up against them.”
O’Neil later went onto express what it would mean for him and his Wisconsin teammates if they can do the unexpected and pull off an upset victory over the Tide on the road this weekend.
“Yeah, if we go down there and we do our thing, if we play a full four quarters of smash mouth football, I’m really excited to see what we’ll be able to do,” O’Neill said. “And I know that, maybe there is some extra motivation this week, just because of, how the game did go last year, that the guys are going to come out swinging, and I know we’re going to fight our hardest and just really excited for the opportunity to go down there, and try and put ourselves on the map. Everyone’s been doubting us. No one really talks about us. I think we’re 18-point dogs, so just being able to go out there and prove to the country who we are and what we can do is something that we’re looking forward to.”
Alabama football will look to defend its home turf when it kicks off against Wisconsin on Saturday at 11 A.M. CST on ABC.
