It really shouldn't be surprising that Sophie Cunningham is a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. She hails from Missouri and was raised two hours away from where the Chiefs play. Now that she has a bigger platform to speak her mind, she's opening up about her fandom - and how disappointed she was last week.
In the latest episode of her Show Me Something podcast, the Indiana Fever star made it clear that she was not pleased with their performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil last week. She admitted that she was checking on the score while watching her team take on the Chicago Sky and was "pissed" after seeing how poorly they played in the 27-21 loss.
“You know what else is not spicy is our freaking Chiefs losing in their first game. What the hell?” Cunningham said.
“Yeah, dude. I watched every second of it. I was pissed… Our team (Fever) was also playing. We were winning, we were playing (the) Chicago (Sky).
“We were winning by like, 20. So, I was watching that, but I also had (the football game) on my phone. I was in the suite. So, I wasn’t on the bench watching.”

Cunningham is hardly the only one who was "pissed" at that Chiefs game. With the loss, Sunday's Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles pretty much becomes a must-win for them.
If the Chiefs lose that game, they'll be 0-2 for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era. The last time the Chiefs started a season 0-2 was back in 2014 - they missed the playoffs that year.
But the Chiefs aren't the only team in a tough spot heading into mid-September. The Fever have clinched the playoffs and now must wait to find out where they'll be seeded and who they'll be playing against.
Unfortunately, the Fever will be without both Cunningham and megastar Caitlin Clark, both of whom are set to miss the playoffs with injuries.
Indiana were likely going to have their hands full even with those two at full strength. Without them, it's hard to imagine the Fever being able to win enough in the postseason to claim their first WNBA title in over a decade.
