There were zero players selected from the Chicago Red Stars in the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft on Friday evening.

Bay FC and Utah Royals FC, the league's 2024 expansion teams, were eligible to select up to four players from Chicago’s unprotected list, which was released earlier this week.

The Red Stars had 16 players eligible for selection: Jill Aguilera, Jenna Bike, Brooke Elby (Playing Rights), Sami Feller, Samantha Fisher, Zoey Goralski (Playing Rights), Sarah Griffith, Sophie Jones, Amanda Kowalski, Karina LeBlanc (Playing Rights), Stephanie McCaffrey (Playing Rights), Addie McCain, Zoe Morse (Playing Rights), Sarah Woldmoe (Playing Rights), Mackenzie Wood, and Grace Yochum (College Protected Player).

The Red Stars were eligible to have up to four players taken from their unprotected list after not making a deal with either Utah Royals FC or Bay FC for expansion draft protection.

Chicago is still without a sporting director and/or general manager to head soccer operations as well as a full-time head coach for the upcoming NWSL season. The appointment of club president Karen Leetzow in November was the club’s last front-office decision that was made public.

The NWSL transfer moratorium ends on Dec. 16th at 8 AM CT, allowing teams to announce offseason acquisitions ahead of the 2024 NWSL season.
