Smokes might just be the new diet for Si Woo Kim. Whatever he’s doing this week at the PGA Championship seems to be working, especially after a remarkably special shot on Friday.

It was a shot that put him firmly into contention, too. So what happened?

Well, Si Woo Kim absolutely roped a shot on the 252-yard par 3 sixth hole. The ball flight hooked from left to right and landed near the front of the green. It took a great hop, then flew all the way into the cup for an ace.

Kim threw his club into the air in celebration and ran all the way to the next tee box as he realized it went in. Even the announcers seemed stunned when the ball went into the cup. You can check it out below.

Si Woo Kim explains on-course cigarette break

One of the viral moments from the opening day’s action at the PGA Championship was a clip that circulated of Si Woo Kim. The veteran golfer was seen taking a drag of a cigarette as he walked up to a tee box.

He put it out just before taking his shot, but the whole saga caused many to wonder what the deal was. It seemed out of character for the Korean golfer.

One reporter asked Si Woo Kim about the moment at the PGA Championship after his round on Friday. He had a hilarious and endearing answer.

“Getting old and stressed,” Kim said. Relatable.

The comments immediately following the post about the cigarette by golf insider Daniel Rapaport were overwhelmingly positive. Here’s a smattering of them:

“One of us!” one user wrote. Added another: “He’s the best.”
