The 2025 John Deere Classic culminated in an exhilarating playoff, with Brian Campbell emerging victorious over Emiliano Grillo. This significant win marked Campbell’s second PGA Tour championship, adding to his earlier victory at the 2025 Mexico Open.

Held at the picturesque TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, the tournament drew in golf enthusiasts with its challenging course and competitive field. The par-71 layout, stretching 7,289 yards, provided a perfect setting for the 156-player field as they vied for a piece of the $8.4 million purse, with the winner taking home $1.512 million and 500 FedEx Cup points.

The action began on Thursday, July 3, with Doug Ghim seizing the early lead, posting a spectacular 9-under par 62, the best round of his career on the PGA Tour. He remained a key contender through the first two rounds, but it was during the third round that defending champion Davis Thompson surged to the forefront, aiming to become the first player to win back-to-back titles since Steve Stricker’s three-year run from 2009-2011.

Entering the final round, Campbell and Grillo found themselves tied and subsequently went into a playoff after finishing 72 holes with identical scores. It was Campbell's steadfast determination that ultimately led him to victory over Grillo, who had also achieved previous success in playoff situations.

Throughout the tournament, impressive performances were showcased by various players, with Max Homa consistently challenging the leaders, and Camilo Villegas making a notable appearance, reaching 11-under par at one point.

As the season goes on, Campbell’s victory will likely boost his momentum as he faces upcoming challenges in pursuit of more PGA Tour victories. He now finds himself inside the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings.
