Brooks Koepka remains one of the most recognisable names on the LIV Golf roster, but there are increasing signs that his time on the Saudi-backed tour could be coming to an end.
The American, a former world number one and five-time major champion, made the jump to LIV Golf in 2022.
Koepka quickly made headlines after joining LIV by becoming the first player from the tour to win a major title.
That victory came at the 2023 PGA Championship, a tournament he had already won in consecutive years back in 2018 and 2019.
There has been talk of Koepka returning to the PGA Tour, and that speculation will only grow following the recent comments from LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil.
Speaking to the Sports Business Journal, O’Neil said: “I know you’re not going to want to hear this one, just the individual players, and this goes back to our policy, we’re just going to run it through. So we haven’t made any announcements on players, but he is signed for 2026.”
Regarding that, SBJ wrote: “Brooks Koepka was one of LIV’s core signees when the league launched in 2022, but Koepka’s deal is up following the 2026 season.
“At least four golf sources indicated there was a chance he may not play in the upcoming LIV season, despite being under contract.
“Should he not play LIV, Koepka still would have access to each major, as well as the DP World Tour following his win at the 2023 PGA Championship.”
Losing Koepka would be a major setback for LIV Golf, who can hardly afford to let such a prominent player go right now.
O’Neil has also confirmed that Laurie Canter will rejoin the tour in 2026, marking his return after a previous stint with LIV.
Canter’s move is notable, especially since he had recently earned a PGA Tour card before deciding to switch back.
Victor Perez has also signed with LIV Golf, but even with these additions, Koepka’s departure would cast a shadow over the new arrivals.
