Bryson DeChambeau could form ideal duo with two-time PGA Tour winner at Ryder Cup

Bryson DeChambeau is expected to play a key role for Team USA at the Ryder Cup, thanks to his massive following, booming drives and impressive short game.

DeChambeau is not as connected to the rest of the US squad, though, since he now plays on the LIV Golf Tour.

Keegan Bradley admitted he was surprised DeChambeau made it onto the team after only playing eight qualifying events.

Now, there is talk that one of his picks could end up partnering DeChambeau at Bethpage Black this month.

Ben Griffin could be the perfect Ryder Cup partner for Bryson DeChambeau

In 2025, Ben Griffin had a remarkable season on the PGA Tour, securing two victories: one in a team event alongside Andrew Novak and another individually.

Fans quickly took to Griffin, especially after learning that he had stepped away from golf a few years earlier to work as a mortgage loan officer.

Ryder Cup vice-captain Webb Simpson spoke highly of Griffin at the Wyndham Championship earlier this month, and it seems Bradley took those comments on board when making his selections.

On the Fried Egg Podcast, Gabby Herzig suggested that Griffin might pair well with DeChambeau at Bethpage Black.

“I was just thinking about who Bryson is going to play with and this is a tricky one because his asset for the team is his driving distance,” she said.

“I’m trying to think about who would match with him personality-wise and it’s kind of come down to potentially Ben Griffin and Bryson.

“The way that Ben Griffin played some of his final rounds where he made some late charges and he was walking in putts and was doing the whole showmanship thing that came out of him kind of reminded me of mini-Bryson vibes,” she continued.

“I can see them matching because Ben Griffin kind of feels like the new kid on the block in the team room and Bryson is kind of an outsider because of the LIV situation.”

Podcast host Andy Johnson also shared his opinion on the matter.

“I think you’ve nailed that from what I’ve gathered the general belief with Ben Griffin is that, it came down to between Keegan and Ben Griffin.

“One thing that came out with the Ben Griffin case was, who is going to play with Bryson, and all signs point to Ben Griffin.

“You know, Griffin is an active TikTok-er, they’ve got a shared interest there,” he said.

Why Ben Griffin’s game could complement Bryson DeChambeau at the Ryder Cup

There is no debate about it: DeChambeau is the biggest hitter in golf right now.

This season on LIV, he averaged 330 yards off the tee. But the real concern for opponents is that he can dial up even more speed and distance if needed – at least another 10 mph and 20 more yards of carry.

Griffin, on the other hand, offers a solid contrast. He finished 28th in strokes gained approach on the PGA Tour in 2025, making him a reliable iron player to complement DeChambeau’s power.

He also ranked 24th in proximity to the hole from inside 75 yards.

Griffin’s putting is another strong point. He was ranked 22nd in strokes gained putting this season, which could take some pressure off DeChambeau to always be precise with his approaches.

If Bradley pairs these two together at Bethpage Black, it will not be a duo that many European players will look forward to facing.
