Bryson DeChambeau delivered a dramatic finish to win LIV Golf South Africa on Sunday.
The American edged out Jon Rahm in a playoff after both players finished at 26-under-par following a thrilling final round.
It secured back-to-back victories for DeChambeau after his win in Singapore last week, but his reaction afterwards suggested there was far more to the moment.
DeChambeau did not hold back when reflecting on the event, making a huge statement about LIV Golf’s latest stop.
“I’ve just got to say I love everybody. Thank you for supporting. South Africa was unbelievable,” he said. “I mean, got to be the best LIV event we’ve ever had.”
The 32-year-old pointed to the atmosphere and energy throughout the week.
DeChambeau’s comments underline just how impressed he was by the support and environment in South Africa, suggesting the event has set a new benchmark for LIV Golf.
Despite his success, DeChambeau admitted the win carried extra significance after a challenging few days.
“I wish I could tell you. A lot has happened in my last… in the past week,” he continued.
The American revealed he had been relying on faith to get through the period, adding that he had been “praying all day” for the strength to keep moving forward.
DeChambeau also offered a broader reflection on the game, highlighting how quickly perspectives can change.
“Golf is a fickle game, and you work so hard at it your whole entire life, and you realize that golf is just golf and there’s a lot more to life than just golf.”
With momentum building and confidence high, DeChambeau now heads towards The Masters with both form and belief on his side.
