Bryson DeChambeau ranked 32nd among all players at The Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Antrim, Northern Ireland as of Saturday morning, giving himself a chance to make a late run toward the top of the leaderboard.

DeChambeau shot +7 in his opening round at the course before rallying with a -6 score in round two to make the cut.

He finished three strokes under par on Saturday as he continued to chase leaders Matt Fitzpatrick and Scottie Scheffler.

DeChambeau also made an announcement that caught attention as it was dubbed "revolutionary" after one of his rounds.

DeChambeau said in March that he was looking for a new ball with a lower launch point with controlled spin that maintains its swing on a half spin.

He said after Friday's round at Royal Portrush that he is working behind the scenes on a new ball that he described as "revolutionary," according to Golf Digest.

"I'm working with somebody that's going to get me a ball that works better for my speeds," DeChambeau said.

"Hopefully there's some more improvements to be made there. That's something I hope to complete in the next year."

Hitting the ball too high has been a struggle for the two-time major championship winner.

"I need help out here," he said. "I hit it way too high. I've tried to lower my flight but I compress down on it really hard and the thing just...I spin it like crazy, and then on my wedges I don't spin it. Launches high with no spin."

He said his new ball will launch in September at the latest with more information coming in a few weeks.
