Bryson DeChambeau reacts after PGA Tour snub ahead of Ryder Cup at Bethpage

Bryson DeChambeau will be the only US Ryder Cup player missing from next week’s Procore Championship, as he continues to play on the LIV Golf circuit.

DeChambeau made the switch from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf in 2022, and next week’s event is one of the consequences of that move. The 31-year-old isn’t eligible to compete at Silverado Resort, where all other US team members will be playing.

To his credit, DeChambeau still managed to qualify for the US Ryder Cup team automatically, despite only playing eight events—four majors across 2024 and 2025.

But even though DeChambeau won’t be in Napa, he remains a good fit for Bethpage Black. He’s played well there before and has a game suited to its demands.

DeChambeau will be taking part in LIV Golf Andalucia at Real Club Valderrama next weekend. It’s his final event before the Ryder Cup kicks off later this month in New York.

DeChambeau responds after being left out of PGA Tour event

Webb Simpson, one of Bradley’s five vice-captains, spoke on the Bible Caddie Podcast about how the US team is preparing for the Ryder Cup.

He pointed out how important it is for everyone on the team to keep their competitive sharpness heading into Bethpage Black.

“One of the big takeaways was that the US had five weeks off from the Tour Championship to Ryder Cup,” Simpson said.

“That is so much time. The only guy we had in our team I’m pretty sure that played an event was Max Homa, who played in Napa. They called him Max Roma! He went 4-0 in Rome.”

“Then you have the European squad who played the BMW at Wentworth and maybe even another tournament, so they were more competitive and tournament golf ready than we were.”

Simpson added: “So Keegan very early on says to the captains, is there any chance we can get them to play in Napa. I said I think it matters how you create that culture and get them to buy in.”

He started with the vocal veteran leaders and they were totally bought in. I feel like there is a humility in this Ryder Cup that I have not seen from players of ‘whatever we need to do to win this cup we are going to do’. They are really trusting Keegan’s lead on that.

Keegan did not have to try to talk one player into playing. They all were brought in, so we have everybody playing minus Bryson and he would kill to play. He has told us he wishes he could play but that’s just kind of where golf is right now.“

Brandel Chamblee shares his thoughts on Bryson DeChambeau’s Ryder Cup role

Bryson DeChambeau might not have had his strongest year in 2025, but that doesn’t take away from how tough he is to face. There isn’t a single player on the European team who would look forward to playing against him.

But will he play all five sessions for Team USA at Bethpage? Brandel Chamblee thinks he could, on one condition.

“I think the hardest problem of having the LIV players is – and it’s not because they’re LIV – we can have that discussion, and I certainly have it all the time, but I think Bryson DeChambeau will be hard to pair with. I believe Cameron Young plays a similar golf ball, if not the exact same golf ball. But just the style of golf Bryson plays has proved difficult to pair with in the Ryder Cup. His record clearly shows that,” he said.

“Oh my gosh, if they can find a partner with him, why wouldn’t he play all five? But early matches will set the tone. If they find somebody that he pairs nicely with.”

Chamblee makes a fair point. If Bryson clicks with a partner early on, there’s no reason Bradley wouldn’t use him in every session.
