Two-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau arrived at The Masters Tournament on Friday needing a steady second round to extend his week.
After a slow start, DeChambeau worked his way back with birdies on the front nine and moved closer to the cut line as the round progressed.
As the back nine began, he stayed within range. A birdie on the 15th put him in position to play the weekend. A birdie on the 15th put him inside the cut line. He just needed to close it out.
Then came the 18th. His tee shot drifted right into the trees, leaving no path. He played out, but the ball found a bunker. The recovery did not go as planned, as he failed to get out of the sand on his first attempt.
Oh no Bryson! A shocking missed cut after a blow-up on the 18th.

He eventually reached the green, but the damage was already done. Two putts later, he signed for a triple bogey on the final hole, which pushed him outside the cut line.
With that, he finished at six over, missing the cut by two shots as a steady round slipped away.
Bryson DeChambeau let a key moment slip at the 2025 Masters, where a double bogey on the 11th derailed his push as Rory McIlroy went on to win.
At the 2025 Masters, DeChambeau began Sunday in the final group and remained firmly in contention through the opening stretch. He briefly moved into the lead after the opening holes as McIlroy dropped shots.
As the round progressed, the momentum shifted. On the back nine, DeChambeau began to lose ground with a series of errors. Two three-putts added strokes, and two shots into the water set him back further.
From there, the gap widened. He was unable to recover over the closing holes and finished with a 3-over 75.
By the end of the day, he fell out of contention and closed the tournament in a tie for fifth place at 7 under, while McIlroy went on to secure the title in a playoff.
