As LIV Golf continues to remain in the news for the wrong reasons, one of its biggest names remains closely tied to the tour. Bryson DeChambeau, who joined the league back in 2022, is now edging closer to the end of his contract. New comments from a key figure hint at what Bryson’s future could look like.

As DeChambeau, along with other golfers, took the field in Mexico City, a concerning report emerged around LIV Golf suggesting a halt in funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Some believed this signaled the end of the golf tour before CEO Scott O’Neil stepped in and assured everyone that the tour would continue without any issues.

Following the first round, O’Neil returned and shared more words on the situation with TNT Sports. He said LIV Golf would continue to focus on building brand value across its teams. He was then asked about DeChambeau’s contract situation. “I am with him way more than I am with my own family”, O’Neil said.

“Nobody more passionate about growing the game in the most purest sense of the world than Bryson. He loves LIV Golf. And I’m pretty confident we’ll find a solution”. The interview was later taken down by TNT Sports’ page from X and YouTube. While the CEO is confident about the two-time major winner’s future, the internal situation within the golf league remains a concern.

DeChambeau reportedly signed a $125 million deal for 4.5 years in 2022. As one of the biggest advocates of the tour, he was expected to negotiate a new deal worth up to $500 million. However, the latest rumored move from the PIF has disrupted all possible plans for both parties.

After reportedly losing Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed to the PGA Tour, LIV Golf cannot afford to lose another big name to its rivals. O’Neil and his team will likely ensure they meet DeChambeau’s demands without taking too large a hit from PIF’s remaining balance for the year.
