The first two picks of the 2026 NBA Draft were as expected, with the Utah Jazz taking Darryn Peterson out of Kansas after the Wizards selected AJ Dybantsa from BYU.
Peterson declined to workout for the Jazz in the predraft process, but the executive team in Salt Lake City led by Danny and Austin Ainge decided they’d seen enough to take him over other highly-touted prospects like Cameron Boozer and Caleb Wilson.Â
The Jazz went 22-60 last season, but acquired Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Grizzlies at the trade deadline. With Lauri Markkanen still in the mix as well, Utah should have plenty of size and defense in their starting lineup.Â
Now they have a player that should be a second elite scorer to pair with 2025 fifth-overall pick Ace Bailey. Despite inconsistent availability in his lone year as a Jayhawk, Peterson averaged 20.2 points per game in the 24 contests he did play.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to be selected with the second-overall pick in the NBA Draft since the lottery era began in 1985 can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
