Defending champion Charley Hull is hoping to repeat last year’s success at the 2026 Kroger Queen City Championship. The English golfer is preparing to play this week’s LPGA Tour event, dismissing a recent missed cut as a minor setback caused by difficult course conditions
Hull started the season with a solid T17 finish at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. However, as the season progressed, she had mixed outings and missed the cut in two events, including last week’s Mizuho Americas Open. She elaborated on her performances at the Kroger Queen presser.
“It’s just like last week, I missed the cut, but that was a couple of crazy pins positions that kind of screwed me,” Hull said. “I finished bogey, bogey to miss the cut. But yeah, I feel like my game is in a good trending right direction. Like, I feel pretty confident”
Ahead of the tournament, Charley Hull began her preparations at Maketewah Country Club, especially the back nine, for which she had an interesting description.
“It’s quite quirky. It’s interesting. But there is a few like tricky little holes, fiddly holes out there.”
Before last week’s event, she had a notable time on the LPGA Tour at the Chevron Championship, a women’s major event. She started the campaign with an opening round of 72, followed by three rounds of 70, 69, and 72, to secure a T10 finish.
Hull heads to Cincinnati, Ohio, with four cuts made in six starts this season.
Last year, Hull secured a one-stroke win over Thai star Atthaya Thitikul at the Kroger Queen City Championship, marking her third LPGA Tour win.
On Tuesday, while speaking to the media, she recalled her victory and said it was “nice” to win, given the ankle issues she had weeks before the event.
“So it was just nice to not come out with any expectations and just play golf and won,” she said.
Speaking ahead of this week’s tournament, Charley Hull opened up about her health. She reflected on how the weather conditions affect her game.
“It’s quite annoying sometimes because when the temperature drops, I notice sometimes, like, I do find it harder to swing,” she said.
However, Hull just called it a “little bump in the road” and is more focused on her game this week. She is scheduled to tee off for the opening round on the tenth tee at 7:48 am in a group with Chizzy Iwai and Ruoning Yin.
