Collin Morikawa had a pretty good start at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Thursday. He carded a 4-under 66 during the first round of the playoffs, one of his best starts in recent months.
Maybe the fifth caddie switch is hitting the mark, but it remains to be seen whether he will be consistent throughout the week. Besides his caddie, there is also a new member on his team — the famous drinkware company Stanley.
Stanley has partnered with Morikawa in a new sponsorship deal. "Meet the newest name on our leaderboard. Welcome to the team @collin_morikawa," Stanley posted on X. Recently, the brand also partnered with Nelly Korda, the world No. 2 LPGA star.
"Let’s goo!!! Might need some color recs for my bottle …" Morikawa responded under the post.
Morikawa is tied at seventh with Rickie Fowler and others. Fowler, too, signed a similar sponsorship deal with Yeti last month.
Fowler's spell on the fairway has not been up to the mark recently. At the Wyndham Championship, he finished tied for 44th with a score of 4-under par. His swing looks better at TPC Southwind.
"It was good today. The last few days through prep, a lot of stuff felt good, swing to making putts." Fowler shared during Thursday's press conference. "I've had some good showings here at this golf course. Just had to stay patient and execute."
