Earlier this weekend, Zach Bauchou became the first golfer to withdraw from the U.S. Open.
Bauchou had just one hole left to play after the suspension of the second round, but decided he didn't need to come back to finish his round. Well outside of the cut line at 15-over, the Korn Ferry Tour professional opted against returning on Saturday morning to finish his second round, instead choosing to withdraw from the tournament.
As it turns out, he wouldn't be the only golfer to fail to finish the tournament. On Sunday, June 15, the golfing world learned that a two-time winner on the PGA Tour and consistent major contender wouldn't be playing in the final round of the tournament.
Corey Conners, who finished in the top 10 of the Masters earlier this year before a top 20 at the PGA Championship, withdrew from the tournament on Sunday morning. While he didn't give a reason for the decision, the Canadian star did appear to suffer an injury earlier in the week.

Bob Weeks, Senior Reporter and Golf Analyst for TSN, reported on X, "According to caddie Danny Sahl, Corey Conners hurt his wrist on Thursday when a bunker shot caught the cable of a TV camera hidden in the lip. He re-injured it today while swinging at a plugged ball in a bunker on the 11th hole. After his round he went directly in for treatment."
Conners, No. 21 in the Official World Golf Ranking, entered Oakmont ninth in the FedEx Cup standings thanks to five top 10 finishes and nine top 25s in his last 11 starts.
He was coming off his best career finish at the U.S. Open in 2024 when he finished tied for ninth place.
