The stage is set for a potentially epic final round at the Masters on Sunday afternoon.
Rory McIlroy, who is still looking for his first win at Augusta to complete the career grand slam, entered today with a two-shot lead over Bryson DeChambeau. McIlroy, who collapsed late in the first round on Thursday to finish even par, was 6-under on both Friday and Saturday to get to 12-under for the weekend.
DeChambeau, meanwhile, has played consistently well through the first three rounds and closed with a flourish Saturday. The 31-year-old two-time U.S. Open winner birdied three of his final four holes to get to 3-under on the day and 10-under for the tournament.
Corey Conners is two shots back of DeChambeau and four behind McIlroy, and there are others, like Ludvig Aberg and Patrick Reed lurking.
Still, this feels like a two-man showdown between two of golf's biggest names, and fans and media members are pumped up about it.
"Tomorrow is every golfers Super bowl. Final round of the masters. We get Rory vs Bryson. PGA vs LIV Who will u be cheering for ?" asked ESPN's Booger McFarland.
"I like Bryson a lot and he’d be a hell of a champion. But everybody who’s ever struggled to get over the hump in any facet of their life understands what Rory is up against. He’s not a perfect person but neither are we. This is it, kid. Go do it," said the Super 70s Sports account.
"Mood when you get to watch Rory and Bryson in the final group tomorrow at The Masters," said golf influencer Paige Spiranac alongside a photo of herself cheesing ear-to-ear.
"Rory. Bryson. Augusta. Sunday. The rare put the kids to bed at 2:30 PM," joked Jon "Stugotz" Weiner from "The Dan Le Batard Show."
"Day 3 of the Masters was an A-plus-plus. Rory was incredible and then Bryson flipped the switch late. This was the dream scenario!" added Bill Simmons.
The fourth and final round of the Masters is already underway, but we've got over two hours until McIlroy and DeChambeau tee off.
They are the final pairing of the day and will get underway at 2:30 p.m. ET.
