Rory McIlroy has left fans stunned at the Genesis Scottish Open after debuting a new look. The four-time major champion showed up at The Renaissance Club with a brand-new haircut. Fans were shocked to see that the 2025 Masters winner had gotten rid of his familiar curls and now sports a sharp, buzzed style that left many doing double takes.

McIlroy’s New Hairstyle Leave Fans Stunned

McIlroy has rarely made headlines for his appearance, but that has changed at the Genesis Scottish Open where his shorter haircut took center stage. The Irishman surprised his peers, fans and reporters when he showed up to The Renaissance Club with a new haircut on Wednesday. Many fans on social media have been reacting since the pictures flooded various platforms.

The timing of the makeover also caught people’s attention. The 36-year-old has recently been in the spotlight over his views on the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf situation. With the Open Championship just around the corner, some fans wondered if the new look was a mental reset or a fresh start before a major push. Others, however, believe he needs more than a haircut to hit the reset button.

“I think what Rory needs most is a better attitude, he’s much too snippy considering how successful he has been,” a fan posted.

Another fan stated that the Irishman’s new haircut indicates that he wouldn’t be talking to the media any time soon.

“The Mr. Bean look does not make me think he’ll be chatting with the media much going forward.”

However, some fans took things on a lighter note, with some comparing him to some famous people.

“He looks more and more like Matt Kuchar. That’s a lot of grey and he’s still in his thirties.” Another fan believed that the PGA Tour had taken its toll on the Irishman. “That looks like the white version of Obama after 8 years. Being the face of the PGA has seriously taken its toll.”

McIlroy Silent About New Look

McIlroy has remained silent about his new appearance despite numerous comments and reactions from fans. The 36-year-old kept things simple during his early practice rounds as he aims for his second major title of 2025. Should he emerge victorious, it would also mark his second Scottish Open victory in three years, at an event co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.

This isn’t the first time a golfer’s appearance has drawn attention. Rickie Fowler’s bright outfits and John Daly’s loud pants have left golf fans stunned in recent times, but McIlroy has usually kept things simple and this is why the new haircut has surprised many fans.
