Golf best bets: 3 props for the Players Championship

We had a solid week with golf prop at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, nailing a +105 matchup on Xander Schauffele and cashing a Will Zalatoris top-10 finish at +280. It gets a bit tougher this week with the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, one of the most volatile tournaments of the season.

TPC Sawgrass is a true test of golf that demands precise ball striking and imagination, so we're looking to target players who have full confidence in their game right now. Here are our three favorite props for the Players Championship.

Shane Lowry top-20 finish (+190 FanDuel)

Our handicapping this week focuses on recent form, which brings us first to Shane Lowry. The Irishman is crushing the Florida Swing so far with a T4 at the Cognizant Classic and a solo third at the API, and he's gained more than 10 strokes with his irons alone in that span. On the season, he ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained on approach and eighth in driving accuracy. Hitting fairways and greens is crucial this week because of the water lurking at every turn, and Lowry is dialed in with his ball striking of late.

Lowry loves Florida golf, and he's finished inside the top 13 twice in his last three trips to TPC Sawgrass. Let's ride the hot hand here.

Tony Finau top-20 finish (+230 DraftKings)

Tony Finau doesn't have the same recent form as Lowry, at least in terms of finishes. The 34-year-old has just one top-10 finish this season in six starts, but he's been immaculate with his iron play.

Through six starts, Finau ranks third on Tour in strokes gained on approach, first in approaches from 200-225 yards and 13th in approaches from 50-125 yards. He's also No. 1 in par 5 scoring average, which is a key stat for TPC Sawgrass because of the tricky par 3s and par 4s.

Finau doesn't have a great track record at the Players Championship, but neither did Scottie Scheffler when he won by five strokes last year.

Keith Mitchell top-30 finish (+180 DK)

One of the more underrated ball strikers on the PGA Tour, Keith Mitchell is swinging with so much confidence right now. The American ranks No. 1 on Tour this season in strokes gained from ball striking, and he's finished T19 or better in three straight starts.

Mitchell's problem has always been his short game, but he's gained strokes from putting in four straight appearances at TPC Sawgrass. The Georgia Bulldog plays his best golf on southeast courses with Bermuda grass, so this is a good spot to target him for another strong week.
