Golf best bets: Keep an eye on LIV Golf Miami ahead of The Masters

LIV Golf heads to Trump National Doral this week for the final tune-up before The Masters, and you'll want to pay close attention to this tournament if you plan on throwing some money down on the first major championship of the year. We'll be locked into the rival golf league with so many players making the trip to Augusta National next week, so we might as well sprinkle a few outright bets on the action.

Here are the three outright bets we're targeting for LIV Golf Miami.

Dustin Johnson (+1400 FanDuel)

Doral is famously known as the Blue Monster, and you can probably guess why. This is a beast of a golf course at 7,590 yards, so we're eyeing up players who can bomb it off the tee and score with their long irons.

The brings us first to Johnson, who already has three wins with LIV. DJ dominated Doral when it hosted the WGC-Cadillac Championship on the PGA Tour, racking up a win and five top-14 finishes in eight starts. He also won in Las Vegas in February and finished T5 in Mayakoba a week before that. Johnson can still crush it off the tee, and he's always thrived on long, challenging golf courses. He's our favorite bet near the top of the board.

Dean Burmester (+3000 FD)

Burmester has been playing some stellar golf over the last few months. The South African won back-to-back events on the DP World Tour in the winter, finished T3 in Mayakoba and is coming off a T8 finish in Hong Kong last month.

Bryson DeChambeau and Joaquin Niemann are the only two players on LIV with a higher average driving distance than Burmester this season. He's been knocking at the door of a LIV victory for months, and this might be the perfect venue for him to break through.

Bubba Watson (+11000 FD)

Unlike Burmester, Watson has been terrible on LIV since joining the Saudi-backed league in 2023. The lefty has only one top-10 finish in 17 starts with LIV Golf, and his best finish this season was a T15 in Las Vegas.

If Watson is ever going to pop up and contend for a win, though, it would be this week. In his last five starts at Doral on the PGA Tour, Watson finished second, third, second, 18th and second. The veteran always been a player who can repeat success at specific golf courses, and Doral is one of his favorites.

At 110/1, Watson is worth a sprinkle.
