Golf bets: 2 U.S. Open futures to lock in now

The PGA Championship just ended a few days ago, but it's never too early to start thinking about the next major championship. The 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort is less than three weeks away. If you're looking to add some spice to your futures portfolio, we've got you covered with two U.S. Open outright bets to take right now before they drop.

Brooks Koepka (+2400 FanDuel)

This one is a no-brainer. Brooks Koepka has played in the U.S. Open 10 times in his career. In those 10 starts, he has seven top-18 finishes, five top-fives and two wins. He thrives when conditions are tough and the mental game plays more of a role in the tournament.

Koepka's price has dipped a bit because of his uninspiring T45 finish at the Masters and his T26 finish at the PGA Championship, but he gained strokes in all four major categories at Valhalla Golf Club. He just didn't hit enough iron shots close or make enough putts to contend in a birdie fest. A high-scoring, grind-it-out test at Pinehurst is a better setup for him.

LIV Golf has one more event before the U.S. Open, and Koepka can quickly lower his price with a strong finish in Houston. If you remember correctly, his outright price at the PGA Championship shot up to 14/1 at the PGA Championship after his win in Singapore two weeks prior. Koepka is still 16/1 to win the U.S. Open at other books, so lock this one in at FanDuel before it's too late.

Daniel Berger (+19000 FD)

Let's move from Koepka to his teammate at Florida State, Daniel Berger. Berger has become a bit of an afterthought on the PGA Tour because he missed the entire 2023 season with a back injury. He's been understandably rusty in his return to competition, but he's starting to show some signs of life.

Berger recorded his best finish of the season with a T13 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and followed it up with a T36 at the Myrtle Beach Classic. The American is also tied for 18th at the Charles Schwab Challenge at the time of this writing.

This is a guy who was a top-30 player in the Official World Golf Ranking before his injury. He was ranked as high as 12th in the world at one point, and he has four PGA Tour victories on his resume. The U.S. Open is also Berger's best major, as he has two top-10 finishes in eight career starts.

If Berger continues to play his way back into form, he won't be 90/1 in three weeks.
