Harris English withdrew from the Rocket Mortgage Classic held in Detroit after he became the fifth PGA Tour player to test positive for the coronavirus.
As ESPN's Bob Harig wrote, English did not play in last week's Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Hartford, Conn., but he tested positive on Monday upon his arrival to Detroit.
Earlier this month, Nick Watney became the first Tour player to return a positive coronavirus test. Cameron Champ withdrew from the Travelers after he tested positive. Denny McCarthy and Dylan Frittelli also tested positive at the Travelers.
Graeme McDowell and Brooks Koepka removed themselves from last week's tournament after their caddies tested positive. Chase Koepka and Webb Simpson opted-out of playing even though they returned negative results.
While speaking with reporters last week, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said players who willingly violate safety protocols, such as social-distancing guidelines, could face "serious repercussions" if caught by the Tour.
