Scottie Scheffler has added another accolade to his growing list, winning the PGA Tour Player of the Year award for a remarkable fourth straight year.

Scheffler enjoyed a stellar 2025 season, picking up six titles along the way, including both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. That brings his career total on the PGA Tour to 19 victories.

He finished ahead of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Ben Griffin in the voting. He has now received a congratulatory message from the man it is named after, adding another layer to what was already an impressive year.

Jack Nicklaus took to Instagram to share his congratulations, posting: “Congrats to Scottie Scheffler for his four-peat and winning the Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA Tour Player of the Year.

“Even with Rory McIlroy and his wonderful year – along with very talented and greatly improved Ben Griffin and inspiring Tommy Fleetwood – giving Scottie a run as finalists, it’s very hard to overlook six victories in one year, including the Memorial Tournament and two majors.

“Right now, Scottie is at the top of the game! Arguably in a class by himself. Although the PGA Tour today is filled with terrific players. Still, Scottie certainly shines at the top!

“Scottie doesn’t make golf his major priority, and I like that approach. I think you live a much happier and healthier life that way.

“After all, golf is a game, and Scottie Scheffler sure does a great job at playing that game. Congratulations again, Scottie! Barbara and I are very proud of you!”

Scottie Scheffler ties Tiger Woods’ record with PGA Tour honour

As Nicklaus pointed out, McIlroy, Fleetwood and Griffin all had strong campaigns, but none could match what Scheffler put together.

He finished inside the top 25 in every one of his 20 starts and posted the lowest scoring average for the third straight year.

Scheffler has now matched Tiger Woods as just the second player to win four or more consecutive PGA Tour Player of the Year awards. Woods claimed the award five years in a row during his peak from 1999 to 2003.
