Two-time major championship winner Collin Morikawa and his new caddie, Joe Greiner, will debut together at this week's Truist Championship 2025 in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. Morikawa, currently ranked 4th in the Official World Golf Ranking, had J.J. Jakovac as his caddie for six years before the duo parted ways following the Zurich Classic.
Before the split, Jakovac was the only caddie Morikawa had used since turning professional in 2019. The two were together for each of Morikawa's six PGA Tour victories, including his two major championship wins at the 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 Open Championship.
But since being crowned the 'Champion Golfer of the Year' in 2021, Morikawa has only one victory, coming during the FedExCup Fall in 2023 at the ZOZO Championship. After countless runner-up finishes and missed opportunities to get back in the winner's circle in recent years, Morikawa made the tough decision to move on from Jakovac and bring in Greiner.
Greiner is coming off his own difficult split with lifelong friend Max Homa, as the duo had worked together full-time since 2019. Like Morikawa and Jakovac, Greiner was Homa's caddie for all six of his PGA Tour wins and caddied for him during his international appearances for the United States at the 2022 and 2024 Presidents Cup and 2023 Ryder Cup. But after Homa struggled mightily early in the 2025 season, missing four consecutive cuts ahead of the Masters, Greiner suggested they both move forward in a separate direction.
Not even two weeks later, Greiner found himself in a part-time gig caddying for two-time major championship winner Justin Thomas at Augusta National. Thomas' full-time caddie, Matt Minister, was forced to miss the Masters with a back injury, which led to Greiner temporarily stepping in.
In Thomas' second start with Greiner as his fill-in caddie, he snapped his three-year winless drought at the RBC Heritage, defeating Andrew Novak in a playoff. That's a high-paying part-time job!
Morikawa now brings on Greiner to help snap his own skid, as he hasn't won on American Soil since the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship. This week's Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club's Wissahickon Course is the final tune-up event before the season's second major championship at Quail Hollow. It's worth pointing out that Greiner helped Homa win the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow.
