By nature, golf is a hard sport that makes the common player pull their hair out and curse to the skies while trying to put a little white ball into a hole. Every weekend, though, golfers sit back and watch as the professionals light up the most pristine courses across the nation, making birdies and eagles to dominate the sport.
And then there's the U.S. Open, where the course difficulty is ratcheted up, and scoring is made tougher. This year at the Oakmont Country Club, players like Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, said this could be the toughest course that they ever play on the PGA Tour.
It appears that Justin Thomas would agree with that statement.
On Friday morning in his second round of the tournament, Thomas went viral on social media for his embarrassing blunder on the 12th hole of the course.

After reaching the long par 5 and setting himself up for a makable 22-foot birdie putt, Thomas did one of the most relatable things that fans will see all weekend: He four-putted it.
His birdie putt was left short, his par putt lipped out, his bogey putt lipped out, and then his double-bogey putt finally found the bottom of the cup. The result, a seven, pushed him to three-over for the day, and nine-over for the tournament, 13 strokes off of the current leader.
While scoring at the U.S. Open was lower than expected on Thursday — a total of 10 players finished under par — conditions are expected to get tougher throughout the weekend as the course dries out and becomes faster.
Whether or not Thomas will be around to see how tough the course gets over the weekend is the main question at this point, though.
