Just as preparations for The Masters are hitting their stride, PGA Tour star Justin Thomas dropped quite a bombshell. In a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), Thomas announced his split with his caddie Jim "Bones" Mackay. The move ended a partnership that started in 2021 and was filled with significant moments, both high and low.

"I'm going to be forever thankful for him joining me on the bag in 2021," Thomas shared in his post.
This breakup, happening just a week before one of golf's most prestigious tournaments, has left fans and followers in a state of shock. Thomas followed up the announcement of the split with another post showcasing himself and his now-former caddie through the years.

Thomas, who climbed to the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Rankings in 2018 and celebrated a PGA Championship victory in 2022, has faced significant challenges in recent seasons. Despite being selected by Team USA captain Zach Johnson to appear in the 2023 Ryder Cup, Thomas failed to make the FedEx Cup playoffs, famously falling just one stroke short of qualifying.
The partnership's dissolution signals a fresh start for Thomas, who's currently ranked 28th in the world. That's his lowest spot on the ranking board since 2016. Yet, the timing of this change raises questions about its impact on Thomas's performance at The Masters next week.
According to Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, Matt Minister will be on the bag for Thomas next week at Augusta.
