Keegan Bradley has his sights set on the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, where he will be leading the US team as captain.

The line-up for Team USA is starting to take shape after the BMW Championship, with six spots now filled.

While Bradley’s season continues this week at the Tour Championship, his focus is split between playing and his responsibilities as Ryder Cup captain.

The event returns to New York next month, where the Americans will be aiming to recover from their defeat in Rome.

For Luke Donald, Europe’s captain, the addition of Tyrrell Hatton and Robert MacIntyre to the squad brings the number of qualified players to five.

Meanwhile, Bradley spoke about his own team selection process on the Today Show, explaining: “So we get another six picks that we will make a week from Wednesday. It’s been a long two-year period of trying to pick these guys.

“We’ve got a good idea who we’re looking at, but we get another week for the boys to prove for the last couple of spots on the team.”

Asked about whether he is considering playing himself, Bradley responded: “That’s the first time I’ve been asked that question!

“When this process started we didn’t know where this was going to fall. Turns out I got a chance to make the team, but I’m going to do what I think is best for the United States Ryder Cup team. As of right now, I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

Bradley’s situation is certainly unique, as he is not only captaining the team but also playing some of the best golf of his career.

But even with his current form, taking on both roles could pull his attention away from what is needed to lead Team USA properly. The job at Bethpage is not a small one.

Even though nothing has been decided yet, Bradley seems energised by the build-up. He spoke about what makes the Ryder Cup stand out in golf.

“Well it’s our ultimate event in our sport. And I went to school down the road at St. John’s University, so I’m well aware of what Bethpage means to the people of New York and our team is going to represent that at the highest level.”
