Keegan Bradley’s caddie reveals what he’s been telling him ‘for months’, and now it’s undeniable

Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley is facing a major decision ahead of September’s event.

The 39-year-old has been in remarkable form this season, picking up a win at the Travelers Championship and climbing into the top 10 of the Ryder Cup points list. Despite already being captain, the rumour mill is growing louder about whether he’ll also be a playing member of Team USA at Bethpage Black.

As things stand, it’s hard to argue against it. Bradley’s consistency and performances this year have put him firmly in the conversation, raising questions about whether he’ll fulfil a rare dual role as both captain and player.

Even more so when you consider the PGA of America’s recent shift away from appointing more traditional, experienced captains like Jim Furyk. They were clearly looking for someone more closely connected to today’s PGA Tour.

Yet Bradley’s level has been more than just solid.

With six top-10 finishes and a rise into the top 10 on both the Official World Golf Ranking and the Data Golf standings, consistency has become Bradley’s trademark in 2025.

Just behind Scottie Scheffler in terms of steady results, he has solidified his place among the very best American golfers this year.

His caddie Scott Vail, who’s been by his side since 2017, is in no doubt about the form Bradley has found himself in.

Speaking to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, Vail didn’t hold back in his praise, explaining: It’s the best I’ve ever seen him play, without a doubt, and I have been saying this for months. I can’t even put into words sometimes how impressive he is.

What a golfer he is. He was struggling with his short game last year, and it was probably a weak spot. Now, around the greens he is top-15 or top-20 I believe in strokes gained around the greens. I mean, he’s hitting the ball unbelievable, driving the ball incredibly well. I have been saying that for a while, me, his coach, everybody in the team. And he feels like this is the best he’s ever hit it, said Vail.

What is Bradley going to do about the Ryder Cup?

Bradley always maintained that picking himself as a captain’s pick would be out of the question. However, with his rise into the top 10, leaving himself out now appears almost impossible.

With three months to go until the Ryder Cup, the decision isn’t getting any easier. It’s one of the most fascinating storylines in the build-up – and one that will continue to be talked about until the teams are confirmed.

The American golfer can also finish inside the top six and qualify automatically for the team, which would create an intriguing scenario for the fans.
