LIV Golf Extends Coverage Across South Asia With New Broadcast Agreement

Now, with both deals, Sony will show the full LIV setup. It includes young players in The International Series and some of the biggest names in the league.

The LIV calendar for this year features 14 events taking place in 10 different countries across five continents. Asian tournaments included Hong Kong and Singapore, which have already completed, and South Korea set to be played between May 28 and 31. Coverage began with the South Africa event.

It will continue until the final tournament of the season, the Aramco LIV Golf Michigan Team Championship, in August.

Rajesh Kaul, a senior media executive at Sony Pictures Networks India, said the format will attract viewers. He said the league moves faster, combines individual and team stories, and gives fans more live action in a four to five-hour show.

Örjan Olsson, SVP of International Media Rights at LIV Golf, said Sony is one of India’s biggest sports broadcasters.

“Securing both linear television exposure and established premium OTT distribution materially improves our reach and brand visibility,” Olsson said.

Anirban Lahiri Sees the LIV Deal as a Turning Point

For Crushers GC’s Anirban Lahiri, the partnership hits closer to home. Lahiri said, “This partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India is a big moment for golf in India, and personally, it means a lot.”

He plays for Crushers GC in a 13-team league that mixes individual scores with a team contest at every event. Fans across the region will now be able to watch names like Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, and Sergio García.

“The energy, the team aspect, and the pace of play is something I think Indian sports fans will genuinely enjoy and resonate with,” Lahiri said.
