LIV Golf could seemingly not resist a dig at Tiger Woods following the conclusion of the second season of TGL on Tuesday night.

It proved to be something of an anticlimax for Woods and his Jupiter Links side. Of course, Woods was making his first appearance of the season in the second match of the finals.

He watched his side get beaten in an incredibly close opening match by Los Angeles. With that, Jupiter needed to win both of the remaining games to be crowned TGL champions.

Sadly for the 15-time major champion, Los Angeles proved to be much too good for their opponents. They ran out 9-2 winners to deny the SoFi Center a decider and the fairytale result.

And to add insult to injury, LIV Golf has also decided to now take a swipe at Woods.

Ahead of LIV’s inaugural event in South Africa last week, Bryson DeChambeau expressed his desire to have his Crushers team take on Jupiter Links in a match.

DeChambeau also mentioned Los Angeles ahead of the TGL final. But LIV only included the mention of Woods’ team in the clip they originally posted on social media.

And they have now added an update, simply posting: ‘Make that Los Angeles Golf Club‘.

Slow progress, but TGL is definitely showing signs of potential

Much like LIV Golf, TGL is never going to be for everyone. It is obviously very different to what you can expect to see during a regular PGA Tour event.

However, the second season seemed to represent a step in the right direction, even if the viewing figures were not always particularly impressive.

They leaned further into the idea of designing ridiculous golf holes. Meanwhile, teams seemed to understand their strategies a lot more.

There will be a WTGL in the near future, with a number of the biggest names from the women’s game getting involved. And it is clear that the players who feature in TGL do definitely want to win.

It has probably not been the success the likes of Woods and Rory McIlroy hoped for. However, there is potential.

And it would be no surprise to see the league improve further when its third season begins.
