The road to The Masters is usually filled with anticipation, legacy talk, and familiar names returning to Augusta National Golf Club. But this year, some of the golf world’s biggest stars will be absent. Anthony Kim had a few words to share on the situation.

Fans received disappointing news earlier this week when Tiger Woods confirmed his withdrawal from the first major of the season. Just a few days later, his longtime friend and rival Phil Mickelson also announced he would miss the tournament, citing family matters. Following Mickelson’s decision, Kim took to X  to share his reaction.

“Really unfortunate news that Phil Mickelson won’t be at The Masters,” Kim wrote. He added, “But nothing more important in life than ur family. Praying 4 him Amy and his family.”

Mickelson last missed Augusta in 2022, when he stepped away from the sport during LIV Golf controversy. Aside from that, the three-time Masters champion has competed in every edition of the tournament since 1995.

Kim’s message also reflected support for Mickelson’s wife, Amy Mickelson. While details about her current situation remain private, many fans are aware of her past health battles. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, just months before Mickelson’s mother faced a similar fight. Both ultimately overcame the disease.

In 2010, Mickelson captured his third Green Jacket and dedicated the victory to his family, making the moment even more meaningful. Now, as Mickelson once again deals with personal challenges, the golf community has rallied around him with support and prayers.

While Kim may be a rival on the course, his message serves as a reminder of the respect and solidarity shared among players beyond competition.
