'LIV never put an offer to him': Greg Norman denies Rory McIlroy’s $850 million LIV Golf offer

The rumors gained momentum after McIlroy’s change in LIV Golf tune following Jon Rahm’s exit from the PGA. McIlroy clearly stated he’s not interested in the Saudi-backed league and while he’ll not judge other’s decisions, he himself is not interested in their 54-hole league.

In an interview with Greg Norman, he dismissed rumors about the $850 deal with Rory McIlroy and stated that it’s only “white noise.” He said McIlroy’s welcome to sit down with him and talk about joining but there has been no discussion about any switch as of now.

Norman said that he’s “one hundred per cent” happy to sit down with him and bring the discussion to the table if McIlroy wishes so. Norman said that he’s not interested to dwell in the PGA-LIV chaos and just wants to grow and develop “what LIV today is”.

Rory McIlroy wishes to re-join PGA Tour policy board

Rory McIlroy pledged loyalty to the PGA Tour after rumors of his $850 million deal went wild. He noted that he sees his future with the Tour and will be there as long as he plays. Recently, he also mentioned how he wishes to rejoin the PGA Tour policy board after five months of quitting.

McIlroy believes “I can be helpful” and wants to extend a hand in merger talks. As a staunch supporter of the PGA Tour, he criticized the Saudi league but after the PIF framework was revealed, McIlroy admitted he felt like a “sacrificial lamb”. He also quit as a board member and focused on his game.

McIlroy now has admitted that he feels the framework will help with the unification of the sport. “It’s the only way forward for the game of golf,” he noted. However, there’s been no official statement on any progress on the framework. Tiger Woods stated that there’s been progress following their last meeting, but details are yet to be revealed.
