LPGA Tour Star Charley Hull Dealing With Scary Situation

Fans of LPGA standout Charley Hull are concerned for her health after a scary scene during the first round of The Evian Championship Thursday.

Hull, who is currently ranked 19th on the LPGA Tour, withdrew from the event after collapsing twice. Hull, who began the round on the back nine, made it through 12 holes but had to sit down in a bunker on No. 3 while looking unwell.

As she approached the fourth hole, Hull collapsed on the tee box. After a 15-minute break, she hit her tee shot, but then collapsed again.

Hull, 29, was eventually removed from the course on a motorized stretcher. She withdrew from the tournament at one-under.

According to Golfweek, Golf Channel broadcast host Richard Kaufman said Hull has been dealing with a virus which had caught up with her on the course.

"Obviously a very unnerving situation for Charley and her playing partners," Kaufman added.

A frightening situation all around, but the good news is the broadcast reported Hull was feeling better and had remained on-site with fellow golfers. We'll likely have a more detailed update on her condition later.

A two-time winner on the LPGA Tour, Hull is coming off a fourth place finish at last week's KPMG Women's Irish Open. She tied for 12th at the Women's PGA Championship and U.S. Women's Open this year, both majors, while missing the cut at another major, The Chevron Championship.

Hull's best all-time finish at The Evian Championship is a tie for third in 2022, and she's finishes second or tied for second at a major three times, most recently the 2023 Women's British Open.

After the first round at The Evian Championship, Leona Maguire, Andrea Lee, Gabriela Ruffels, Grace Kim and Jennifer Kupcho are all tied atop the leaderboard at six-under,
