LPGA Tour Star Charley Hull Has Message For Rory McIlroy After Masters Victory

Just like countless golf fans around the world, Charley Hull watched Rory McIlroy defeat Justin Rose in a playoff to win the Masters this past Sunday.

It wasn't easy for McIlroy, who squandered a sizable lead on the back nine. He had a chance to slam the door shut on Rose with his par putt on No. 18, but he was just a tad off. Although that miss seemed to derail his momentum, he rebounded nicely with a beautiful second shot during the playoff.

McIlroy then made a four-foot putt to win his first green jacket and end his major championship drought. It also marked the career slam for the Northern Irishman.

"This is my 17th time here, and I started to wonder if it would ever be my time," McIlroy said. "I think the last 10 years coming here with the burden of the Grand Slam on my shoulders and trying to achieve that, yeah, I'm sort of wondering what we're all going to talk about going into next year's Masters."

After McIlroy won the Masters, an old quote about him buying a house for his parents resurfaced.

"I'll never be able to repay Mum and Dad for what they did, but at least they know they'll never have to work another day," McIlroy said in 2009. "I'll do whatever it takes to look after them."

That comment hit close to home for Hull, who reposted it on her Instagram Story along with a message for her fans.

"We should never forget who we are today from the encouragement and help from our parents," Hull wrote.

Hull, a former Ladies European Tour Rookie of the Year, has made it clear over the years that she'll always be grateful for her family no matter how popular she gets.

With the Chevron Championship set for later this month, we'll see if Hull can channel her inner Rory McIlroy and win her first major.
