The second round of the 2025 Cognizant Classic has wrapped up, and the star of the day was none other than Luke Clanton, who made the cut and earned his PGA Tour card in the process. While that's a big achievement in its own right, Clanton is setting his sights on bigger goals already.

After shooting four under par on Thursday, Clanton shot five under par in the second round on Friday. It was quite a day for the star amateur, who opened up on what it would mean for him to clinch his PGA membership before the event got underway.

"Yeah, it would mean the world for sure. To do it here, as well, would be amazing. An amazing journey I guess you could say," Clanton said via ESPN. "But again, I think I'm going to be boring with this answer yet again, but just to kind of stay focused on one shot at a time."

Now that he's made the cut, Clanton will finish out the tournament, with the third and fourth rounds set to take place on Saturday and Sunday. As if he hasn't already achieved enough, Clanton boldly predicted after the completion of his round on Friday that he'd end up winning this event.

"That was fun," Clanton said after he finished his round off with a birdie on the 18th hole. "I didn't realize it was called the Bear Trap for a reason until right now. That was frickin' nerve wracking. Fun staff, man ... We're gonna win this (expletive) event."

With a score of nine under par heading into the third round, Clanton finds himself tied for 10th place for the time being. Jake Knapp is currently leading the pack with a score of -13 through his first two rounds, meaning Clanton has some work to do if he intends on chasing him down over the next two days.
