Shane Lowry delivered a moment of magic Saturday at the 2026 Masters. His hole-in-one launched him into contention. It also continued a remarkable hot streak, which the Irish golfer had a simple explanation for.

Lowry drew loud cheers from the patrons after achieving a hole-in-one on the par-3 sixth hole. In response, Lowry smiled politely before saying, “Maybe I’m just good. [laughing]”

“I don’t know. Like, sort of my [indiscernible] plays a strength of my game,” the 39-year-old added while speaking to reporters on Saturday.

With three rounds already completed in the tournament, Shane Lowry finds himself in fourth place at 9-under par. The Masters contender is now just two strokes behind the current lead.

Lowry’s ace came from a perfect 7-iron shot, the same club he used for a hole-in-one in Houston just weeks ago.

Despite the excitement of the fan base, Lowry cited preparation as crucial to maintaining his composure on the field. “Myself and Neil have talked about during the week about the only shot that matters is the next one,” said Shane.

Chasing Perfection and Masters History at Augusta

The ace on the sixth hole was statistically significant, with Lowry’s father remarking that he might be the first person to achieve two legendary signature holes-in-one.

Despite his success, the Irish golfer stayed modest, focusing on the competitive boost it provided. “All you get is two bits of crystal. You don’t get much else,” said Lowry, referring to the customary crystal for eagle shots at the Masters.

Though Shane Lowry found the achievement very exciting, he admitted it would take more to beat players like Scottie Scheffler.

“It’s pretty good leaderboard, so it’s going to be pretty hard to win this tournament tomorrow, but I’ll give it my best,” said the PGA Tour pro.

Safe to say the Masters final on Sunday promises to be super competitive. Cameron Young and Rory McIlroy are tied for the lead, while Sam Burns has a slim 1-stroke lead on Lowry.
